The primary objectives of the discussion include:
- Educating practitioners about procedures for applying a PSW approach to the SLD.
- Providing psychometric methods for analyzing the data to determine a PSW are illustrated, along with an introduction to software that uses multi-battery test scores to identify statistically significant strengths and weaknesses.
- Providing recommendations for applying PSW results to SLD identification. The final segment of the workshop will be a brief overview of evidence-based interventions for a variety of processing weaknesses. The PSW and SLD identification procedures recommended are consistent with California’s SLD criteria.
Milton Dehn, Ed.D. is a nationally recognized expert on psychological processing assessment, working memory, and children’s long-term memory problems. Dr. Dehn is the author of Essentials of Processing Assessment, 2nd ed., The Psychological Processing Analyzer, as well as several books on children’s memory problems.
