Experience

Helping Children Overcome Their Struggles
Youth Evaluation Therapy: Dr. Kathryn Keithly is a clinic in Monterey, California that provides children with psycho-educational and neuropsychological assessments to help them overcome various struggles and disabilities. I practice a patient-centered approach to my treatments, focusing on their strengths, weaknesses, personal experiences, and needs to provide a personalized healing plan.

Katy’s Beginnings
Her career in Psychology kicked off at Cal State Monterey Bay, where she graduated with a B.A. and was a captain of CSUMB’s women’s golf team for four years. Katy also has been riding horses since she was five and competed throughout the United States.

Educational Background
Dr. Kathryn Keithly, Katy for short, is a licensed Educational Psychologist (#3485) and is a Board-Certified Sport Psychologist with a State certification in School Psychology. She also holds a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, as well as an M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Educational Psychology.

Past Experience
She held several positions in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Monterey Bay Area, one of which was as a program manager for a preschool special education program. Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Katy also taught Psycho-Educational courses at the Cal State Monterey Bay’s Special Education Department.

Her Present Activities
Katy consults and conducts assessments within the greater Monterey Bay Area in an effort to improve the lives of students residing there, as well as their opportunities for athletic development. She also provides training sessions on behavioral management for parents and teachers so they can easier relate with their children and students.

As a certified Sports Psychologist, she can also provide assistance for athletes who are looking to improve their mental edge and boost their performance in the field, as well as Neurophysical assessments as part of her specialty.

Katy’s Focus
Her participation and focus on sports have given her new insights on how it can help build confidence and self-esteem for students with learning disabilities. This realization was also the main reason her Master’s and Doctoral research centered on the positive impact sports can have on learning and overall educational development.

Katy specializes in IEE evaluations and enjoys helping families and school districts understand how to provide the best experience for their students.
