Given the large representation of DLLs in California, it is imperative that educators utilize research-based practices to improve academic achievement outcomes when working with DLLs. This presentation will focus on the review of the literature of evidence-based instructional practices for DLLs with an emphasis on literacy instruction.

Speakers

Arlene Ortiz, NCSP, LCP, is an Assistant Professor of School Psychology at California State University, Sacramento. Previously, she worked at numerous school districts and mental health agencies providing academic and behavioral health interventions to children, adolescents, and their families. Her areas of expertise are assessment and intervention practices for culturally and linguistically diverse individuals.

CEUs/CPDs

LMFTs/LCSWs/LPCCs/LEPs: This course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for LMFTs/LCSWs/LPCCs/LEPs licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. NCSPs: The course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of Continuing Professional Development for Nationally Certified School Psychologists, under Provider Number 1025, licensed by the National Association of School Psychologists. CASP is responsible for the content of this workshop.
