Tilman Heyer is partner and co-founder of Heyer Gutierrez, LLP. He first became involved in special education as a Teacher’s Assistant in an SDC classroom, later spending school breaks working with children with exceptional needs in city-run summer camps. Through an educational career spent entirely in public schools and universities, Tilman understands the important role of public schools, and feels honored to contribute to the mission of serving California’s schoolchildren. Tilman focuses on the needs and goals of each client, developing a unique and well-planned approach for each situation. Since graduating law school, Tilman has focused his career on representing and advising public schools. Tilman earned his undergraduate degree from University of California Santa Barbara, double-majoring in Political Science and German. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California Irvine School of Law, where he was the student director of the Education Law Clinic and clerked for the legal department of a school district.

Marcy Guiterrez is partner and co-founder of Heyer Gutierrez, LLP. Marcy has worked in public education her entire career, spanning over thirty years. She started her career as a high school teacher, and transitioned to the legal field in the year 2000, where she has worked exclusively on behalf of school districts and other education entities, advocating for public schools. Marcy earned her undergraduate degree from University of California, Davis, and earned her teaching credential at California State University, Sacramento. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and is an Adjunct Professor at California State University, Sacramento.
