Legal Update: Cases, Guidance, and Other Developments Impacting School
Psychologists and Educational Psychologists.  This session will provide an
overview of the most important recent cases from the Office of Administrative Hearings
and the courts—and why they matter to school psychologists.  We will also highlight
recent guidance from the California Department of Education on relevant topics. CEUs included.
 
Session 2: Assessing Multilingual Learners for Bilingual and Monolingual School Psychologists
1:00 PM – 4:15 PM
This presentation will focus on essential strategies for assessing multilingual students,
catering to the unique perspectives of both monolingual and bilingual school
psychologists. Attendees will gain insights into collaborative approaches for working
effectively with bilingual psychologists to support multilingual students’ academic and
socio-emotional development. In situations where bilingual psychologists are
unavailable, participants will explore methods for reviewing and interpreting student
records, ensuring evaluations are culturally and linguistically responsive. The session
will also delve into the application of Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) theory, highlighting its
relevance in the assessment process. Specific emphasis will be placed on
understanding the interplay between cultural background, dominant language, and
cognitive abilities, offering practical guidance for tailoring assessments to students’
diverse needs. Furthermore, the presentation will provide practical tools, including the
C-LIM, sample interview questions for parents and students, and are designed to gather
essential contextual information and enhance the assessment process. CEUs included.

Leticia Zadrozny

Leticia Zadrozny holds a M.A. in Educational and Counseling Psychology and Ed.S. in School Psychology from the University of the Pacific. Additionally, Mrs. Zadrozny-Zelaya has been a school psychologist for over 10 years and is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Mrs. Zadrozny-Zelaya also works in private practice as a Licensed Educational Psychologist. Mrs. Zadrozny-Zelaya specializes in bilingual assessments, utilizing technology to improve learner outcomes, and organizational strategies for school psychologists.
