This presentation will cover the purpose of ethical principles, outline a problem-solving methodology used when ethical dilemma’s arise, review standards and policies, and standards that apply to common activities school psychologists and LEP’s encounter on a daily basis. The ethical implications using telehealth will be outlined, as well as a discussion on HIPAA, FERPA, and CMIA

Speakers

Dr. Erika Zepeda, Psy.D., LEP is a school psychologist in Riverside Unified School District and an adjunct faculty member at San José State University and UMass Global. She has been a school psychologist for the past 16 years and has worked in Compton, San José, and Palo Alto. Erika has conducted risk assessments and safety plans with elementary and secondary aged students. She has worked in collaboration with district personnel, local agencies, and the police department to support a seamless process in risk assessments, safety planning, hospitalizations, and a return to school transition.

Dr. Gina Beaman has a Psy.D. in Educational Psychology. She is an LEP, an LMFT, has a PPSC and is a Certified Learning Disability Specialist for the California Community Colleges. She has worked professionally in the field of mental health and school psychology for over 26 years. In addition to being the CASP Ethics Specialist, she is the APA Division 16 Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee. She is currently a practicing School Psychologist in the Southern California area, working in a K-8 school district. Dr. Beaman has extensive knowledge and experience working with multiple age ranges in a variety of settings, including the County of San Bernardino Dept. of Behavioral Health, Kaiser Permanente Mental Health, and Antelope Valley Community College, Office for Students with Disabilities. She also is in private practice, where she focuses her energy on assessments for college-level students who seek accommodations in the class, assessments for accommodations for high-stakes testing for adults and high school students who are ready to take the ACT or SAT, and assessments for entrance into Gifted and Talented programs.

CEUs/CPDs

LMFTs/LCSWs/LPCCs/LEPs: This course meets the qualifications for 3 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs/LCSWs/LPCCs/LEPs licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. NCSPs: The course meets the qualifications for 3 hours of Continuing Professional Development for Nationally Certified School Psychologists, under Provider Number 1025, licensed by the National Association of School Psychologists. CASP is responsible for the content of this workshop.
